The O.K. method

Our way of making prostheses is nothing short of revolutionary and has the potential to make a huge change.  O.K. Prosthetics is different from but works in close co-operation with Ossur prosthetics company which is a world leader in prosthetics/orthotics.  All components and tools are produced by Ossur and are tested according ISO 10328 standards.

Quality

0803bladraIcexTM is used for fitting a prosthesis.  By using a silicone liner as an interface between the stump and the hard socket, friction is minimal.  The silicone liner also contains and gives shape to the soft tissues of the stump.  The hard socket is fitted directly onto the stump under pressure.  This gives a perfect fit and allows for weight bearing on the whole surface of the stump.  The socket is therefore very comfortable and the user has full mobility.

All components are made of strong, light and durable materials.  The foot has been especially designed to withstand extreme conditions while providing comfort when walking.  All components can be cleaned with soap and water.

Productivity

In terms of productivity, the OK method is nothing short of revolutionary.  A fully functional prosthesis is fitted in one session, in less than an hour.  The same fitting, using traditional methods, usually takes 4-5 days with repeated visits to the clinic.  Using the O.K. method, one leg-fitting team can fit 25 prostheses in a single week.

Simplicity

Making the socketOnly basic facilities and machinery are needed when fitting a prosthesis (not even socket electricity).  Components and tools easily fit into a travel bag, allowing for total mobility of work stations.

Sustainability

0803teachingThe O.K. way is simple and straightforward - there is no magic to it!  Local prosthetists can be trained in using the method in a short time with excellent results.  In that way, empowering knowledge and know-how remain in the local communities for years to come.
