The OK Solution

Össur Kristinsson is an eminent prosthetist and inventor.  Kristinsson is the founder of Ossur, a world leader in prosthetics and orthotics.  Recognising the huge need for an improved prosthetic solution in post-war zones, he founded OK Prosthetics (formerly named Icexpress ehf.).

The OK method of making legs is revolutionary.  It produces high-quality prostheses, helping the amputee return to full employment.  The method is extremely quick, making production of a large number of artificial legs possible in a fraction of the time it takes using conventional techniques.  The method requires no complicated machinery and all components and tools fit into a regular travel bag.  Moreover, the OK solution is simple in execution, making it easy to train local leg makers.  In that way, empowering knowledge and know-how remain in the local communities for years to come.
